Baccarat Strategy, Myth Or Possibility?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

As with any form of casino games, including poker, blackjack and roulette, the player is always looking for a strategy to increase their chances of winning. Many experiences Baccarat players feel that any mention of a strategy is purely based on myth and rightly so. We will look over some of the more common proclaimed strategies in an attempt to come to a concrete conclusion on the Baccarat strategy myth.

The Scorecard
Almost every casino will hand out a scorecard to every player at the table. Players can be spotted keeping track of the outcome of each hand in an attempt to spot patterns in order to take advantage of a streak. The casinos encourage this behavior simply because they know it has no bearing on the outcome of the game. Following a supposed pattern in Baccarat is as fruitless as it is with Roulette. Each hand plays independent of the last but this does not stop betters from believing they have found a betting edge by following trends. It is in your best interest to abstain from this habit as it has no outcome on the cards being dealt and will not provide you with any sort of edge.

Card Counting
While often referred to as a stable of successful Blackjack play, card counting is another card strategy that is meaningless in the game of Baccarat. Although it may appear as a worthy strategy for the Baccarat player, the fact that the issue of used cards being fed back into the “shoe” before all have been removed negates any count you may have made up to that point. Card counting for Baccarat is a race with no end, the cycle of cards makes it impossible to ever have a solid system in place.

What works?
The most common system used would be always betting on the banker. Although this is by far the most boring of any system it is the only one that can be mathematically proven to give you an edge.

The Final Word
After examining the many strategies proposed for the game of Baccarat is becomes quite clear that there is no failsafe method to improve your odds. Betting on the banker may make you a winner more often than not but it also strips the game down to a series of planned bets. It is best to enjoy the game for what it is and abandon any attempt and finding a strategy to help your odds at the Baccarat table.

The Origin Of Baccarat: The History Of This Fun Card Game

Friday, June 12th, 2009

The word Baccarat is derived from the Italian word “baccara”, meaning zero, and refers to the zero value given to all of the face cards and tens. In Europe, the game of Baccarat remains one of the most popular casino games. The game of Baccarat is enjoyed by all social levels and can be found played in locals cafes as well as the most prestigious of royalty events.

An early version of the game was played with a deck of Tarot cards dating back to the middle ages. While Baccarat originated in Italy around 1490 it became the game of choice for the French nobility by the early 1950’s. Baccarat evolved into the French game “Chemin De Fer”, which translates as “Street of Fire”. The French game introduced the words “Banco” – which means they are betting the total value of the bank’s funds and all other bets are withdrawn, “Cheval” – which means other players at the table may bet on either hand, as well as “Non” for standing and “Carte” which means the player would like one more card. Many American casinos have adopted the French terms used in the game to further the image of Baccarat as a glamorous game. European Baccarat is another variation but follows the same rules as the other versions of this game.

What is known as American Baccarat actually originated in England and spread to South America. The version of the game that is played today came from the Capri Casino in Havana, Cuba.

When Baccarat was introduced to Nevada in the late 1950’s, local casinos attempted to instill the glamour associated with the European game. In most casinos, Baccarat was played in a roped-off area and was closely monitored and sometimes even guarded

A number of casinos have installed a smaller version of the Baccarat game, called Mini-Baccarat and it is played on standard blackjack-sized gaming tables using the same rules. The table is staffed by one dealer who is responsible for handling the cards. The layout, however, conforms to the regular Baccarat table and each of the seven seat positions correspond to a number and betting box with spots for banker, player, and tie. Lacking the formality and large group of players, Mini-Baccarat is played fast and is an ideal place to get familiar with the game. While Mini-Baccarat may not be held in the same esteem as the parent game it still enjoys great popularity with the novice players.

How To Win At Live Dealer Baccarat

Friday, June 12th, 2009

From online casino strategy, sports betting advice to beat the scores and odds, poker tips, the Offshore Insiders Network has it all.

They say that Baccarat is game that cannot be won other than a really good guess. But others say differently. The basic objective of the game is to score 9 or as close to it as you can without the banker beating you. There are two cards that are given and depending on what the two cards added together are you get to draw a third card. You can either bet on your hand, the bankers hand or a Tie. The Tie pays out more. In a game like Baccarat there is no other way to influence the cards or change the outcome. What the cards say is what they say. You can try to take a wild guess at what the cards may add up to be but it is highly unlikely that you can.

What makes the game harder is that the casino can choose to use up to 8 decks of cards. Which will mess you all up, if you were considering card counting or statistics. You would also have to consider the other players too. You would have to look at their cards and access a system where you think it will be beneficial to you. There are players who have claimed to have beta slot machines and Blackjack but trying to fix baccarat or figure it out is like trying to guess who will win Roulette. It is impossible.

With Baccarat it is the luck of the draw and with Roulette it is luck of the spinb of the ball. There are websites all over the place that say they can predict online Baccarat but if you cannot predict the cards when they are in front of you how can you predict an online card game. It is simple, you cannot predict the game of Baccarat, if you could there would be millionaires running around and casinos would add another deck of cards to foil that plot or they would increase their commission.

Baccarat is a fun game that is either hit or miss. You can’t tell which way it is going to go. Some players bet on the bank because they believe like every other game it is somehow connected to the house. But instead Baccarat is favored by a very small percentage that the player has the advantage. You may be able to find smaller tables where you could place a small bet. Not all casinos are geared toward the high rollers.

They would lose money of they did. You can practice Baccarat at home with another player or just with your self and see if you have any luck perfecting a winning strategy. Try playing on a online casino you can’t lose money because those sites are illegal here in the United States. Practice may make perfect and maybe not. It is all in fun anyway, you are supposed to walk into a casino and prepare to lose. At least that is what they say.
